In 1999, the Martha Layne Collins
Leadership Award was created and presented to former Governor Martha Layne
Collins for her contributions to the Commonwealth of Kentucky and its people.
This award recognizes an individual Kentucky woman of achievement who inspires
and motivates other women through their personal, community and professional
lives. |
Nominations arrive from across the state; three
finalists are selected each year and recognized at the
annual Women’s Business & Leadership Conference in May
of 2008.
Criteria for selection include: (1) leadership ability;
(2) being a role model for Kentucky women; (3)
contributions as a volunteer; (4) evidence of continuous
learning; (5) commitment to Kentucky’s economic
advancement, (6) perseverance in face of hardship; and
(7) demonstrated sensitivity to diversity.
Nominations (including self-nominations) will be
accepted through January 31, 2008, and should include
name, address including zip code, phone and email
contact information. Nominees will then be contacted
and requested to submit materials for consideration by
the Awards Committee. No nominations will be accepted
after January 31.
