Martha Layne Collins Leadership Award

Nominations Being Received

In 1999, the Martha Layne Collins Leadership Award was created and presented to former Governor Martha Layne Collins for her contributions to the Commonwealth of Kentucky and its people. This award recognizes an individual Kentucky woman of achievement who inspires and motivates other women through their personal, community and professional lives.

Nominations arrive from across the state; three finalists are selected each year and recognized at the annual Women’s Business & Leadership Conference in May of 2008.

Criteria for selection include: (1) leadership ability; (2) being a role model for Kentucky women; (3) contributions as a volunteer; (4) evidence of continuous learning; (5) commitment to Kentucky’s economic advancement, (6) perseverance in face of hardship; and (7) demonstrated sensitivity to diversity.

Nominations (including self-nominations) will be accepted through January 31, 2008, and should include name, address including zip code, phone and email contact information.  Nominees will then be contacted and requested to submit materials for consideration by the Awards Committee.  No nominations will be accepted after January 31.
